-
- By default 3D Museum is set to run on the 640x480x64k SVGA graphics
- mode at 50% of the screen size.
- This mode may or may not be supported by your graphics hardware. If
- it is not supported you will have to choose a new video mode from the
- screen savers configure dialog.
-
- We have made our screen savers as adjustable as possible. All of our
- screen savers come standard with password protection, selective video
- modes and the ability to disable and enable high performance graphics
- drivers.
-
- Password protection:
- Using password protection will prevent most people from accessing your
- computer as your screen saver is running. It is always possible to just
- reset the computer that the screen saver is running on to get into it so
- please note it is not impossible to get past a password. It will however
- keep most people from messing around with your system.
-
- Video Modes:
- Each computer has various video modes that its graphics can be run on.
- Our screen savers allow you the user to select one that you would like
- the screen saver to run on. In the list of available video modes on your
- computer you may select one that you would like to have the screen saver
- run on. Simply click on the graphics mode that you would like and hit
- apply. The higher the resolution of the video mode the slower the screen
- saver will run.
-
- Example: 320x240 will run faster then 800x600 in most cases.
- A good resolution for graphics is 640x480. The 8 bit, 15 bit, 16 bit,
- 24 bit, 32 bit radio buttons allow you to select how many colors the video
- mode will have.
- 8 bit=256 colors
- 15 bit=32768 colors
- 16 bit=65536 colors
- 24 bit=16,777,216 colors
- 32 bit=16,777,216 colors but could be faster then 24 bit modes
-
- The higher the color depth that you choose the slower the screen saver will
- go but the better the screen saver will look. Try testing out your video
- modes and various color depths to find a suitable mode for your system.
- Note: Not all video modes are 100% compatible with your system. They may
- appear distorted, lock up your system or cause other effects on the screen
- saver. The reason is most likely due to conflicts between graphics drivers.
- To find solutions for this please read support.txt or visit us at
- www.spectrumsoftware3d.com and contact our support department.

-
- Speed:
- If the screen saver is running too fast on your system you can select a slower
- speed which will cause the program to display less frames per second which will
- slow down the program.
-
- Display Size:
- The display size adjusts how big of a window is on the screen. For example if you
- selected a 640X480 graphics mode and run full screen the program will use the full
- resolution of 640X480 to display the graphics. If you select a radio button of say
- 50% the program will display a graphics window 50% of the original resolution on
- the screen. The smaller the graphics window the faster the program will run. It is
- recommended that you select a lower display size percentage if the program is running
- too slow on your system. If the display window is not displayed at full screen size
- the window will randomly move after the amount of seconds you have entered. Usually
- a good amount of seconds before the window moves is 60 to 120 seconds.
-
- Museum:
- The pictures displayed on the walls of the museum are the .bmp files that are currently
- displayed in the gallery pictures list box. A maximum of 90 pictures may be loaded at a
- time if you have enough RAM to load 90 .bmp files. The museum displays 90 pictures total
- randomly spread throughout the museum. If you have less then 90 .bmp files loaded the bitmaps
- you do have loaded will repeat to fill the 90 spots available for pictures on the museum walls.
- For example if you have one .bmp file loaded you will see 90 copies of that same .bmp
- file throughout the museum. Please note: the best .bmp files to load are 128x128 files. You
- will also get good results if the width of the bitmap equals the height of the bitmap. Bitmap
- files must also have a color resolution greater then 256 colors to be loaded. Bitmaps with less
- then 256 colors will cause an error to occur.
-
- Museum Type:
- By default the museum is set to randomly select a different appearance for the museum
- each time it is run. If you don't want to have the museum randomly pick one of the 22 different
- schemes for the museum walls, floors, and ceilings you will need to select one of the 22 choices
- yourself and then hit apply to save the changes you have made.
-
- Walking Speed:
- Walking speed adjusts how fast you move through the museum. Walking speed in no way
- effects the frame rate at which the program runs. It just adjusts how fast you move
- through the museum. If objects are moving by too quickly select a slower walking speed.
-
- Objects:
- The objects in the museum are what are places on the floors of the museum. If an object
- is checked it will be placed someplace in the museum. A total of 25 objects are placed throughout
- the museum and by checking one of the four object types causes that object to have the chance of
- appearing as one or more of the 25 objects randomly placed in the museum. If you do not wish to have
- objects in your museum simply uncheck all the object boxes.
-
- Fog:
- Fog is a effect that can cause your museum to have a hazy look to it. To enable fog check
- the enable fog/haze check box. Once checked you will be able to modify how dense the
- fog will be throughout the museum and the color of the fog. The color that you see next to the
- vertical scroll bars indicate the color of the fog in the museum. Please note: Enabling fog
- most likely will greatly slow down the screen saver. If you don't mind the loss of speed by
- all means enable it. If you are looking for faster frame rates it will be best to disable fog.
